Artists have a unique ability to communicate the value and meaning of qualities both tangible and intangible, to raise consciousness about issues that matter but that can easily be forgotten. Over the next two years, I will be working  with artists in the Anacostia watershed to incorporate the river into their work. This collaboration will include group exhibits, artist networking and grant writing assistance for projects that further public awareness of the plight of the Anacostia.

This watershed has the benefit of being home to the Gateway Arts District, where several hundred artists of diverse disciplines live or have gallery/rehearsal space. I will be working to integrate the arts into the Anacostia Project by incorporating the work of sculptors, dancers, musicians and galleries.
